Landscape Services

The type of maintenance, care and housekeeping is defined in the following and is designed to promote healthy growth and create the landscape environment specified. Maintenance services start approximately April 1 and ends approximately November 30.

Lawn Care

  1. Turf is cut at a height of 2" to 3" as conditions dictate. Mowing shall be done frequently enough so that no more than 1/3 of the grass blade is removed per cutting. Mowing equipment and patterns shall be employed to permit recycling of clippings where possible, and to present a neat appearance. Excess clippings shall be removed. Blades on all equipment shall be sharp to prevent tearing of the grass blades.
  2. Turf adjacent to walks shall be edged one (1) times per season 
  3. A pre-emergence crabgrass control shall be applied to all turf one (1) time each spring to prevent crabgrass seeds from sprouting.
  4. A quality turf fertilizer shall be applied three (3) times per season providing a total minimum of three (3) pounds actual nitrogen per 1,000 square feet. Timing, frequency and rate of application shall be adjusted to meet horticultural conditions.
  5. All turf shall be sprayed one (1) time in spring to control broadleaf weeds.
  6. All turf shall be sprayed one (1) time in mid-summer to control broadleaf weeds.
  7. Leaves shall be removed from all turf in autumn.

Shrub, Evergreen and Goundcover Beds

  1. A quality fertilizer shall be applied to applicable beds one (1) time per season.
  2. A pre-emergence weed control shall be applied to applicable beds one (1) time per season.
  3. Turf adjacent to beds shall beds edged one (1) time per season to prevent encroachment of turf and present a neat appearance.
  4. All beds shall be hand-weeded sixteen (16) times per season to present a neat and weed-free appearance.
  5. All shrub and evergreen beds shall be pruned three (3) times per season to remove dead or damaged branches, develop the natural form of the plants.
  6. Leaves shall be removed from all beds in autumn.

Seasonal Flowers

  1. Perennials shall be maintained by means of accepted horticultural practices including fertilizing, dead-heading and cutting back at the appropriate time of season.

Trees and Lawn Evergreens: (To 15' In Height/s" Trunk Diameter):

  1. All trees and lawn evergreens shall be spot pruned one (1) time per season to remove dead or damaged branches and to develop the natural form of the plants.
  2. A cultivated and edged ring shall be maintained at the base of all lawn trees where applicable one (1) time per season.

Miscellaneous

  1. A general spring clean-up shall be provided each season to remove debris accumulated over the winter.
